She described the news of the death as deeply shocking and totally unexpected. Omodewu was the Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Urban Development during the administration of Senator Abiola Ajimobi, the first two-term Governor of Oyo State.

Mrs Ajimobi said Omodewu’s death came at a time when he still has a lot to offer the party and the people of Oyo state.

“With a deep sense of loss and grief, I write on behalf of myself and the family of Senator Abiola Ajimobi to commiserate with the family of Hon Ajiboye Isaac Omodewu and the progressives family in Oyo State over the totally unexpected and shocking death of the party Chairman, Hon Ajiboye Isaac Omodewu.”

According to her, the late APC chairman was someone she knew so well “having worked closely as Commissioner for lands during the administration of my late husband, Senator Abiola Ajimobi of blessed memory.

“As a Commissioner, he was hard working and diligent in his duties and he was held in high esteem by my husband. When he eventually became the State party chairman, he was also someone that I related cordially with. His death, thus came as a shock to me”, she said.

Mrs Ajimobi said Omodewu’s death has left a huge vacuum due to his invaluable contribution to Oyo APC.

“He died at the most unexpected time, his death came at a painful period especially now when his contribution to the unity and peace of the party is needed.

“With his death, there is no doubt that his immediate and extended families, the progressives family in Oyo State and Nigeria have lost a dedicated party man and an illustrious son of Otu in Itesiwaju Local government of Oyo State”.

She noted that no soothing words can ease the pains of his passing away. She enjoined those who would miss his passage to take comfort in his good deeds which are indelibly written in the heart of the people who have had the opportunity of meeting with him in his lifetime or worked with him as Commissioner and as party chairman.

She enjoined members of the Oyo APC and the family to take deep consolation in the words of the late South African President, Nelson Mandela when he said: “Death is something inevitable. When a man has done what he considers as his duty to his people and his country, he can rest in peace”.

“Though he died at a relatively young age, Omodewu has done his duties to family, friends, political associates and the people of his community in Otu. May his soul rest in peace”.
