…Commends Tinubu, Supreme Court on ruling

The President, Christ Apostolic Church Worldwide, Dr Henry Ojo has appealed to state Governors across the country that they should accept the recent ruling of the Supreme Court which grants financial autonomy among others to the third tier of government.

He commended the Supreme Court and the Federal Government n the decision expressing optimism that the ruling will foster speedy development at the grassroots.

The Cleric spoke on Sunday during the 28th Anniversary thanksgiving service of CAC Arogungbogunmi International, Olomi, Ibadan.

Ojo said “My advice to the governors is for them to accept the judgement and they should allow the local government to function properly because if the local government is not functioning properly their own work also would not be seen. So they must accept the judgement of Supreme court and relieved the power back to the local government.

“I really commend the decision of the supreme court concerning autonomy of local government and this thing has been on ground for a long time whereby the local government could not be able to do anything. They are just a toothless dog but for supreme court to come up with this judgement, I believe there will be a great development in local government because if we have Federal Government, we have state government, then we have grassroot government which is local government department.

“And for government to hold them to ransom and just make them to just be. Putting them in pocket does not help the development of this country. Now in our local government, we can hold our local government responsible if things are not moving in the way it’s supposed to move.

“Unlike before that the governor is doing the work that local government councils are supposed to do, as if we don’t know who we voted for to be a chairman in local government, what is he doing? I really commend supreme council and federal government for going to this level for betterment of this country.”

He appealed to those condemning the President Bola Tinubu administration to beware that it was not the fault of the President that cost of governance is high, adding that there is nothing the President could do outside the constitution but that the laws of the land needs to be reviewed.

He also advocated per time legislative duties in the stead of current full time practice.

“I discovered on this issue that, it is not the problem of those who are in government. It is a problem of the law. Our law is corrupt and it needs to be rewritten and amended. There is nothing President Tinubu can do apart from what is written in the constitution of the country and if he wants to tamper with it, we will accuse him that he doesn’t follow Nigeria constitution.

“So, I believe that, what he can do now is to raise a constitution amendments committee to amend the constitution of this Nigeria and you also must know that presidential system of government is very expensive. Any nation that practice Presidential system do spend more than other systems around the world.

“Since Nigeria practice Presidential system we have put ourselves into this problem. I believe anyone who wants to be in the National Assembly or House of Representatives supposed not to be a full time. It’s supposed to be a part time, but our constitution says they must be a full time. But, that will be until we amend the constitution and that’s why I agree with those who are calling for restructuring of this country. Until we restructure it, nothing will change”, the Cleric added.

He charged Christians all over the world to remain steadfast, saying the world is coming closer to an end.

Also speaking, the Chief Host, Prophet Richard Kolawole charged Nigerians to be perfect in prayer, noting that things may still be more difficult.

He called for prayers for President Tinubu, saying he must step on toes to be able to turn the country around with his numerous policies.

“There will be inflations. Things will sky rocket, will go up and I have told you that if Tinubu wants to survive what is going on in this nation, he needs to step on toes and fight the battle and hold the bull by the horn that is when things would work well for this nation. No battle.

“All christians should continue praying that this nation should not turn upside down. God should help us to uphold this nation and during this difficult time so we need a lot of prayers. So christians should not fold their arms. They should not keep quiet. You know because we are approaching the end of the world and many things are happening in the nation.”

He said the grace of God alone has kept the Church from its foundation till date.
