Strike: Oyo Labour leaders commend compliance, vows enforcement

Labour leaders in Oyo state including the Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Kayode Martins and his counterpart from the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Comrade Bosun Olabiyi have said people in the state are complying the national directive on strike.

 

They said, the organisations such as Federal government Secretariat, University College Hospital, State High Court, banks among other institutions in the state did not open for business on Monday.

 

When contacted on phone, Comrade Martins said the directive is a sit-at-home and that many workers have complied as many organisation did not not open Monday morning.

 

Martins however said Labour leaders are going around some other organisation whose workers reported for duty to enforce compliance.

 

Also speaking, the Oyo TUC Chairman, Comrade Bosun Olabiyi said many workers and organisations such as banks have shut down in compliance. He said the exercise will gradually gather momentum as the labour leaders review and monitor situation.

If we notice any noncompliance , we may have to go out for enforcement .

For now, everybody is at home .
